In the ongoing Parliament Winter Session, proceedings in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have been marred by disruptions following a major security breach on December 13, coinciding with the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 terror attack on Parliament.
The Opposition, demanding accountability, sought a statement from Union Minister Amit Shah, with some even calling for his resignation. In response to the chaos, 33 Lok Sabha, 45 Rajya Sabha Opposition MPs suspended, including Rajya Sabha member Derek O'Brien, were suspended on Friday.
The Winter Session's final week has been marked by upheaval, especially after a security breach in the Lok Sabha last Wednesday. Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury urged the Lok Sabha Speaker to revoke the suspension of 13 parliamentarians.
Meanwhile, the government has moved the Telecommunications Bill 2023 in Lok Sabha today. The Union government also aims to push through the three new criminal codes and the bill on a panel to select election commissioners before the winter session ends
